Exodus 20:13
You shall not murder

Your words have power
Words can kill or heal

James 1:19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this:
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

Take charge of your life

John 5:1-9
Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

Problems paralyze people
They get used to the abuse
They give up hope
Pain becomes predictable. It becomes better than freedom

Rise up from your paralysis
You can get up from your paralysis

Take up your bed
– you can be comfortable with your problem
– you don’t need that bed anymore

Take responsibility

Take charge of your life

Keep on walking
Get out of your situation

Connect to God and people
Keep it simple

Genesis 5:24
Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

Enoch was in fellowship to God
God wants to communicate to us from His Word
God’s word will change your life

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

Keep it simple
It’s so easy to complicate our faith
We have different personalities.
Listen to God the way you were designed.
God wants to have dates with you
You need dates with Him too

How do you read the bible?

3 Guidelines

It’s not how much you read, it’s how much you listen
Pausing for a while
Pause — allow God to speak to you
Have a same chair time

There are difficult verses

Vengeful God

Micah 5:15
I will take vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that have not obeyed me.

Nahum 1:12
This is what the LORD says: “Although they have allies and are numerous,
they will be destroyed and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, Judah,
I will afflict you no more.

Ezekiel 25:17
I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath.
Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take vengeance on them.’

Murderous God

Exodus 21:12
Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.

Exodus 35:2
For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day,
a day of sabbath rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21
If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother
and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother
shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.
They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious.
He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”
Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death.
You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

Genocidal God

Deuteronomy 2:32-34
Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women,
and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain

Deuteronomy 3:2-4:6
Give the people these orders: ‘You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives
the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.
Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land,
not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own.
You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.’”

Joshua 6:21
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox,
and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house,
and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.
And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father,
and her mother, and her brethren,
and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold,
and the vessels of brass and of iron,
they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had;
and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day;
because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord,
that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho:
he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
So the Lord was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

Joshua 8:1,24-25
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai.
For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.
When Israel had finished killing all the men of Ai in the fields and in the wilderness where they had chased them,
and when every one of them had been put to the sword, all the Israelites returned to Ai
and killed those who were in it.
Twelve thousand men and women fell that day—all the people of Ai.

Psalm 137:9
Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.

How do you read the bible?

Revelation of God to man is progressive
God is revealing to man based on human limited understanding
Gradual revelation

Jesus is the final revelation

Read the bible using Jesus as your lens
The Word is Jesus Himself

John 8:7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them,
“Let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

If you make everything important,
nothing is important

To follow Jesus, you cannot say everything is important

What is the most important in following God?

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The bible is a mirror.
When you read the bible, you see your weaknesses

My Comments/Reflections:
The bible is the story of our salvation.  It is a beautiful love story between God and man.
It is a story of God’s faithfulness to His people. Not just to the people from the past
but to all of us including the present and the future.
It is not just a story but is a living Word.  When we read it, it has transforming effects.
We are not transformed overnight and in just one reading, but we are transformed daily.
Not because of our own efforts only, but because of God’s faithfulness and continued grace
flowing to us.

If you are interested to know more on how to read God’s word, there are scheduled
Bible Studies at the Feast. There you can learn  how to read the bible as a Catholic.
And you will have a deeper understanding of How God works in our lives.
May God bless your journey towards Him who Love you immensely.

Lies that we believe in the future
Some people are afraid of uncertainty because they have never been there
So many questions about the future stresses you out
Refer to the Word of God because it is firm and solid

Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

God is already in our future.

Matthew 6:27-30
And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit
to his span of life? And why are you anxious about
clothing? Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow; they neither toil nor spin;
yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field,
which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into
the oven, will he not much more clothe you,
O men of little faith?

Believe that God has prepared everything

Every blessing has already been prearranged

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

Numbers 13:31-32
Then the men who had gone up with him said,
“We are not able to go up against the people,
for they are stronger than we.”
So they brought to the people of Israel
an evil report of the land which they had
spied out, saying, “The land through which
we have gone, to spy it out, is a land
that devours its inhabitants, and all the people
we saw in it are men of great stature.

Numbers 14:1
Then all the congregation raised a loud cry,
and the people wept that night.

They were not able to enter the promised land

Some of us are stuck because of fear.
Because of bad reports, we get disillusioned.

The Israellites experienced many miracles.
But when they experienced a big problem,
they saw the giants, and they forgot the miracles.

Gratitude and fear cannot live together

Fear will make you forget yesterdays blessings

Perception is reality

Your life is like a roller coaster.
Will you live in fear? Or in joy?

Experience is what you do to what happens to you.

Wear a different eyeglasses.
Lens of fear — you will be stuck
Lens of love

What eyeglasses are you wearing?

When you are grateful, something good happens to you.

What Fear Does
1. Delusion
That’s part of life, you will always have a basher
A lot of fear
Life is like a roller coaster, there will always be ups and downs

False expectation appearing to be real
Forget everything and run or
Face everything and rise

2. Distractions – it makes everything small important
Focus on the most important

3. Detours
It makes us hire wrong advisors that leads us to
go away from dreams
Consult the right people

Will you follow fear? Or will you follow God?
It is all about love.

A lot of people are so afraid.
Our vision becomes limited because of fear.
We see things based on what it is.
We don’t see it based on what it could be.

See things on how God sees it.

God has a plan for you.
We don’t see it yet.
Your future is already secured

Our future is in God’s hands

It’s all about trusting God

How do you see your future?

Hurt Attack – Surgery – Talk 2

Posted on Updated on

Speaker: Bro Audie Villaraza

God will not waste a single hurt in your life.

1 Samuel 18:6-10
It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine,
that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing,
to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments.
The women sang as they played, and said,

“Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands.”

Then Saul became very angry, for this saying displeased him; and he said,
“They have ascribed to David ten thousands, but to me they have ascribed thousands.
Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” Saul looked at David with suspicion
from that day on.

Now it came about on the next day that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul,
and he raved in the midst of the house, while David was playing the harp
with his hand, as usual; and a spear was in Saul’s hand.

David not once tried to retaliate Saul.

Do you have abuse in your life?

1 Samuel 24:12
May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.

Big Message
Be good to others
not because they are good to you
but because you are good.

God does the same thing to us everyday.
Love others like Christ.

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

Big Message: Let love heal you

If you do not love yourself, you cannot love others

If you are in an abusive relationship, wake up and walk away

Love and need are different things

Sometimes the only way to love an abuser is to avoid him
But do not take revenge because that wound will get deeper
You don’t want to be an abuser also

1 Samuel 24:12
May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.

There’s a difference between an abuse and an annoyance
You have to know the difference

If abuse — avoid
If annoyance — accept

Your strength could also be your weakness
You cannot love a person in parts — accept a person totally

What is the shortest way to success?

1 Corinthians 11:1
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

You have to decide who you will be around with.

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

Big Message: Copy Winners

Some people just like to play video games.
They want to win in all video games that they play.

But there is nothing more fulfilling than
winning the game called life.

Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Secret to a joyful life
- Generousity - there is always joy in giving
- Gratitude - be thankful for what you have and not to focus on what you do not have
- Compassion - be compassionate with others who are different from you

Find a mentor that is already living your dream.
There are mentors around you. You just need to open your eyes and look for them.

Steps to look for winners:

1. Catch - Identify a winner
   - Avoid religious people who does not have love in their hearts
   - Spot the difference between winners and fakers. There may
be rich people who look like rich but are burried in debt.
There may be people who looks poor but they are truly rich.

2. Copy - Copy what fits you
   - Do not copy personality,
     Copy production
   - Know who you are and copy what fits you.
   - Do not copy tendencies,
     Copy perspective
   - Do not copy process
     Copy passion

- Copy first, and be original later on
Later on, you realize your unique gift
- God has the best for you in your life
- Be your purest self.

We are the body of Christ.
We have different role in life
It's when the body of Christ works together
that the face of God is seen.

Share your gift to the world.

Wisdom and preparation goes together

2 Reasons Why People Get Stuck
Proverbs 26:13-15
The lazy man says,“There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!” As a door turns on its hinges, So does the lazy man on his bed. The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.

1. Laziness
2. Fear

Want to stay in their comfort zone.
Uncertain – afraid – move forward

Proverbs 26:16
A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
than seven people who answer discreetly.

Insecurity – fear of failure
Success is on the other side of fear, pride and laziness.

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

From day 1, you are already a champion
We forget that we are champion
Champions prepare more
Because you are a champion, you prepare more

Education and Environment

Keep on learning
Look for mentors

Proverbs 22:15
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 20:18
Plans are established by seeking advice; so if you wage war, obtain guidance.

Who are your mentors?
Mentor is someone who is already doing your dream

Personal and virtual mentors

Do you have personal mentors?
LOJ is a learning organization
We are willing to make mistakes
Path towards improvement

Environment — peers — dreaming the same dream

What is that one point that you do and do it again?

Every winner was one time a beginner

Have a championship environment

Do you want to win in life?

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come

1 Kings 7:18
He made pomegranates in two rows encircling each network to decorate the capitals
on top of the pillars. He did the same for each capital.

If God is in your life, you have peace
if you have peace then you are wealthy

Big message:  Blessings are chasing after me

Speaker: Bro Alvin Barcelona

Blessing is all over
May mga taong hindi matanggap ang blessings

Prosperity Mindset
– Believe
– Act
– Receive

Poverty is multidimensional
External structure for poverty
Internal structure – mindset

Move from poverty mindset to prosperity mindset

All of us are rich
Truly rich

True measure of richness

Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Right now, be happy of what you have
Look at yourself as rich and what will come is bonus
Be happy to where you are
Blessings are chasing after me

Prosperity mindset
1. Think that you are already blessed

Psychology – how you think
I am rich, I am blessed
Love the poor but you don’t aim to be poor

Do you believe that God wants you to be poor?
How do you see money?
Money is neutral. It depends on how you use it.
Ang pera, sa kamay ng banal ng tao, banal yan
Purify our thoughts with our money
We need money
Money can be used for God’s work to build His kingdom

How do you see God? Do you see God as playing favorite?

Philippians 4:18
I have received full payment and have more than enough.
I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus
the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice,
pleasing to God.

God will meet your needs
Hindi kuripot si Lord
Humingi ka sa capacity of the giver
We ask God. He owns everything

2 Worlds

1. physical world
Basic premise is scarcity
Unlimited wants that is why there is always lack
We just don’t live in a physical world
There is enough for everyone

2. Spiritual world
Economic principle of God — it does not go empty

Miracles happen:

Matthew 14:17-21
We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
“Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down
on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven,
he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples,
and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied,
and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
he number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

1 Kings 17:7-16
Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
Then the word of the Lord came to him: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon
and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”
So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering
sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar
so I may have a drink?” As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me,
please, a piece of bread.”
“As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread
—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug.
I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son,
that we may eat it—and die.”
Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said.
But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me,
and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord,
the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil
will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”
She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day
for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up
and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord
spoken by Elijah.

Our economy is limited resources
But to God there is unlimited resources

If we have God’s mindset, there will always be enough
