Special Talk: Go Home

By Bro Bo

* When we go thru struggles, we fold up,
but when we pray, we open up our life to God.

* Psalms 91

  Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
  will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
  my God, in whom I trust.”
  Surely he will save you
  from the fowler’s snare
  and from the deadly pestilence.

  He will cover you with his feathers,
  and under his wings you will find refuge;
  his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
  You will not fear the terror of night,
  nor the arrow that flies by day,

  nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
  nor the plague that destroys at midday.

  A thousand may fall at your side,
  ten thousand at your right hand,
  but it will not come near you.

  You will only observe with your eyes
  and see the punishment of the wicked.

  If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
  and you make the Most High your dwelling,
  no harm will overtake you,
  no disaster will come near your tent.
  For he will command his angels concerning you
  to guard you in all your ways;
  they will lift you up in their hands,
  so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
  You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
  you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
  “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
  I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
  He will call on me, and I will answer him;
  I will be with him in trouble,
  I will deliver him and honor him.
  With long life I will satisfy him
  and show him my salvation.”

* A home is filled with love.

* A home without love is a terrible place.

* No matter how beautiful home, you need love to make it a real home.

* Only Jesus is your real home

* Psalms 46:1-2

  God is our refuge and strength,
  an ever-present help in trouble.

  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
  and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

* There’s only one person that will not shake,
and will not fail you, it is Jesus.

* Cortisol – chemical in body it heightens all your senses, it pumps blood, ready to fight or flight
– this chemical is released when we are afraid
– fear makes you survive but will not make you grow

* Today you have no lions around.

* The lion is your stress.

* We are marinating our bodies with cortesol because of stress.

* God is your home

* Rest with Jesus.

* Most of us have difficult people.

* Walk away. Forgive, yes. Love them from a distance.

* The worst monster in you life is yourself. You hurt yourself, criticize yourself.

* You need to run home to Jesus -> only He will say to you, I love you, i will not criticize you.

* The message of the world -> perform, and I will love you

* God’s message -> before you perform, I already love you

* God is the only one who can give you peace and rest

* Many people are looking for a home, a safe place,
where they will not be judged, where he will totally be accepted.

* Can you be a safe place for someone?

Speaker : Fr Joel Jason

* Lost without your love
– Lost without God’s love
* Home is not only a building of stones and marbles
It is going back to the loving embrace of our Father
Mark 10:17-22
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
“As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
   “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
   “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
   You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery,
   you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud,
   honor your father and mother.’”
   “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
   Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said.
   “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
   Then come, follow me.”
   At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.”

–> The problem of the man is not that he is rich, but that he is lost
–> Restless – felt lost – he was not at home

* Homing principles
  1. Be Hungry – a different kind of hunger
There is a heaven sized hole in our heart, and nothing less than the infinite can fill us
– something less than God cannot fill this hole.
– You will always be restless
– what do we do and where do we go to satisfy our heart
– What am I feeding my heart with?

Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart;
      yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

– Hunger not so much for happiness as for holiness
– If you hunger for holiness, hapiness is always a biproduct
– Pope Benedict 16th condemned false infinity
or Shallow pleasures, Fleating entertainment
– Be hungry, hungry of the things of God

  2. Be Humble
– Humility is not easy
– The devil can never kneel to God
– Bend knees in prayer
– Kneel before God
a. Seek counsel and help
– find someone who can be your accountability partner
– make sure that that person will not be afraid to confront you of the truth
– The truth is only hated for the people who hate the truth
– State of perfection vs the road to perfection
– As long as we are still on earth, we are still on the road to perfection,
we fall, we slide back, but we continue towards perfection
– A man of virtue is not someone who is always right but who is always wrong
but always goes back to the right path
– It was pride who turned angels to devils, it was humility that change humans to angels

   3. Be More
– Dont be satisfied with mediocrity
– The problem with you is not that you desire too much but you desire too little
– Desire for God not just the gift that He is giving
