Big Message: Let His will be done.

God’s will.

If you want God to direct you,
you got to allow God to disturb you.

Jonah 1:1-10,15

The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of
Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh
and preach against it, because its
wickedness has come up before me.”

But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed
for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where
he found a ship bound for that port. After
paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed
for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.
Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea,
and such a violent storm arose that the ship
threatened to break up. 5 All the sailors
were afraid and each cried out to his own
god. And they threw the cargo into the sea
to lighten the ship.

But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay
down and fell into a deep sleep. The captain
went to him and said, “How can you sleep?
Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will
take notice of us so that we will not
perish.”

Then the sailors said to each other, “Come,
let us cast lots to find out who is
responsible for this calamity.” They cast
lots and the lot fell on Jonah. So they
asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for
making all this trouble for us? What kind of
work do you do? Where do you come from? What
is your country? From what people are you?”

He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship
the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the
sea and the dry land.”

This terrified them and they asked, “What
have you done?” (They knew he was running
away from the Lord, because he had already
told them so.)

Then they took Jonah and threw him
overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.

God knows your limitations
God is smart enough to send you and where
not to send you.

Being sensitive to the Spirit

When it comes to serving the Lord,
age does not matter.
It’s a matter of anointing.
God will equip you.

How to make Godly decisions

Your deficiencies does not define you.

Decision align with God’s mission to you.

Acts 27:31, 28:1

Then Paul said to the centurion and the
soldiers, “Unless these men stay with the
ship, you cannot be saved.”

Once safely on shore, we found out that the
island was called Malta. The islanders
showed us unusual kindness.

Is the boat that you are in right now,
better or worse because you are in it?

Jonah’s decision almost killed the people on the ship.
Paul’s decision saved the people on the ship.

Be the Paul in somebody’s life.

Embrace your cross

Big Message: Give your kingdom to the king.

We need to dress for the occasion.
You go to work, dress to work.
Go to vacation, dress to vacation.

Change your environment

Curate – to organize a collection of items.

Curate your kingdom to get rid of bad habits.

1. Curate the people in your life – choose the people to hang out
Not everyone who is good to you is not good for you.
Time is a limited resource.
Choose people who will nourish you.
Guard your heart for it is the wellspring of your life.

Love others, but don’t allow everyone to have access to your inner life.
Choose the right people

2. Curate your perspectives – Change your perspective,
Change what you watch, change what your listening to to.
Is it improving you? Is it inspiring you?

Control the content of what you consume

Psalm 101:3

I will not look with approval
on anything that is vile.

I hate what faithless people do;
I will have no part in it.

The contents of what you consume will create

the character that you will assume

Start treating your life as if it’s a kingdom.
Learn how to guard it well. Don’t just let anybody or anything in.
Your faith is important.

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

When you change your inside, you change your outside

1 Kings 4:29-32
God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight,
and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East,
and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman,
Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame
spread to all the surrounding nations.
He spoke three thousand proverbs
and his songs numbered a thousand and five.

A person’s strength does not protect him from his weakness.

Your 1% weakness will cause your downfall

1 Kings 11:1-2
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women
besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.
They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites,
“You must not intermarry with them,
because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.”
Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.

1 Kings 11:3
He had seven hundred wives of royal birth
and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.

4 Mistakes of King Solomon

1. King Solomon surrounded himself with idol worshipers
Yes, we need to love the sinners, but we need to hang out also more often with good persons
– balance

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

Do not be arrogant and say you do not need anyone
You do need someone to be beside you
Set up your growth by hanging out with growing people

2. He stopped meditating the word

Deuteronomy 17:18-20
When he takes the throne of his kingdom,
he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law,
taken from that of the Levitical priests.
It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life
so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God
and follow carefully all the words of this law
and these decrees
and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites
and turn from the law to the right or to the left.
Then he and his descendants will reign
a long time over his kingdom in Israel.

Prioritize God in your life
Get into the word everyday

3. He followed the wrong example

Deuteronomy 17:17
He must not take many wives,
or his heart will be led astray.
He must not accumulate
large amounts of silver and gold.

2 Samuel 5:13
After he left Hebron, David took more concubines
and wives in Jerusalem,
and more sons and daughters were born to him.

Have your parents sinned against God?
Have your grand-parents sinned against God?
You can look at that bad example and follow.
Or you can say I will not follow.
You can stop the cycle
The curse stops with you

4. Mistake of accumulating large large amounts of silver and gold.

Deuteronomy 17:17
He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray.
He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

1 Kings 10:14
The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,

Blessings can become curses
When you become arrogant
Change your setup that you can go closer to Jesus.
Tell Him help me to rule your kingdom
so that everything in this kingdom kneels before Jesus.

Some of the great men do fall

Do not be arrogant to think that you will not fall.
Cry out to God. Jesus, I need you in my life.

Homily of Fr. Francis Payo

From a life of sin to a life of grace.
Jesus makes all things new.

Ang tunay na pagbabago ay biyaya ng
Panginoon.

Encounter in Jesus – we can not remain the
same. We cannot remain in the dark. A renewed self.

Speaker: Bro Audee Villaraza

Change is an inside job.

Big Message: God is changing you.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The devil will flee.

Our tendency is to run away

from the bad habit.

But this is already the step 2

What is step 1?

Submit yourselves to God

What does it mean to submit to God?
Learn how to submit to the good.
Surrender

Jesus did not use force,
but he use friendship.

Submit it to the one who defeated the
battle. His name is Jesus.

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

John 18:16-18
but Peter had to wait outside at the door.
The other disciple, who was known to the
high priest, came back, spoke to the servant
girl on duty there and brought Peter in.
“You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too,
are you?” she asked Peter.
He replied, “I am not.”
It was cold, and the servants and officials
stood around a fire they had made to keep
warm. Peter also was standing with them,
warming himself.

John 18:25-27
Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing
there warming himself. So they asked him,
“You aren’t one of his disciples too, are
you?”
He denied it, saying, “I am not.”
One of the high priest’s servants, a
relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut
off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with
him in the garden?” Again Peter denied it,
and at that moment a rooster began to crow.

Matthew 26:74
Then he began to call down curses, and he
swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately a rooster crowed.

Steps on how to Change

1. Get loved
– Only love can change someone
Jesus loved Peter, that’s why he changed

John 21:3
“I’m going out to fish,”

– Peter thinks that his call was over and would just go back to his fishing.

Jesus was re-enacting Peter’s call
Jesus was also re-enacting Peter’s fall
My mercy is bigger than your mess.

Response to God’s love

John 21:12
Jesus said to them, “Come and have
breakfast.”

– Jesus is saying here that we’re family

Why does love change a person?
– The anatomy of an addiction
– Any addiction is an anesthesia
to numb our painful hunger for love.
– Your greatest need is to be loved.
– Your bad habits are all pain killers.

The only one who can give you real love is
this person named Jesus.

2. Get real
– The only way to receive love is humility
– Get out of your pride

John 21:9
When they landed, they saw a fire of burning
coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

-When we fall into sin, there is denial
-justifying

-God meets you where you are.
-In the middle of your mess, in the middle
of your shame, in the middle of your storm.
-He is coming to you.
-He does not expect perfect love from you.

-He knows your love is imperfect.

Homily by Father Joel Jason

Rejoice Sunday – Color: Rose
Rejoice in anticipation of the coming of Easter.
The coming of Jesus’ Resurrection.

The Gospel of Luke Chapter 15
-is called Parables of mercy
-> Lost coin, lost sheep and lost son.

Gospel for today -> Parable of the prodigal son

We have 4 Different Justices:

1. Legal Justice – responsibility of citizens towards government.
example: we vote, we obey traffic rules, etc.

2. Distributive Justice – responsibility of the government
towards the people
– The government distributes wealth of the country to the people

3. Commutative justice – or mathematical justice
– An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
– This is the justice that we usually embrace

4. Restorative Justice – it restores, rebuilds, rehabilitates, transforms
– This is the justice in our gospel today
– We have difficulty with this justice because
we are used to the commutative justice.
Just like the reaction of the older brother in the gospel
– Another term for this is MERCY
– All of us are beneficiaries of the mercy of God
– This is why are we still alive today. It is because of the mercy of God
– The wage of sin is death. All of us deserve it.
But because of the mercy of God, we are still alive
Mercy will not make sense when it is offered to others.
It will make sense only if it is offered to us.

– As we are given mercy, let us also give mercy to others
– Let us realize that we are benefited by this mercy,
let us also give this mercy to others

Speaker: Bro. Audee Villaraza

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness,
so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,
over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures
that move along the ground.”

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

Big Message: You look like Jesus.

Rule the animals with love.

Mark 1:13
and he was in the wilderness forty days,
being tempted by Satan.
He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

If men are supposed to rule animals with benevolence,
there will be harmony

Isaiah 11:7
And the cow and the bear shall feed;
their young ones shall lie down together:
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

A little child will lead them.

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals
the Lord God had made. He said to the woman,
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Serpent

Adam and Eve were supposed to rule the animals
Serpent was allowed to rule eve
Eve allowed the animal to rule over her

Cain and Abel

Genesis 4:6-7
Then the Lord said to Cain,
“Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?
But if you do not do what is right,
sin is crouching at your door;
it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

You must rule over it
Sin is crouching – a serpent crouches

Genesis 4:8
Now Cain said to his brother Abel,
“Let’s go out to the field.”
While they were in the field,
Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

The animal ruled
Who attacks in the field? The serpent

We’re made in the image and likeness of God
I’m supposed to look like Jesus

In this story, man is acting like beast

In war there are no winners
They are all losers
because we all act like animals

when people act like animals,

we are not able to rule

4 Bad Habits

1. The bad habit of lust

2. Bad habit of temper
– makes excuse that they are “tao lamang”
– Human being was not designed by God with bad habit and rage
– Each person is made in the image and likeness of God

– Fruit of the Holy Spirit
– Peace
– Patience
– Kindness
– Goodness
– Faithfulness
– Gentleness
– Self-control

3. Bad habit of greed
– When there is a greedy person in the government, people suffers
– When there is a greedy person in the family, family breaks

– Greed – comes from fear
– Out of that fear, he becomes greedy and selfish, he then becomes cruel
– God designed us not to be cruel

– God calls us to be human again.

– The glory of God is man fully alive. St. Irenaus

4. Bad habit of apathy
– The problem was what he did not do
– Story of Lazarus and the rich man (bible verse)

How do you stop selfishness?
how do you stop acting like animals?

God is giving us a solution: His name is Jesus.

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a] and hers;
he will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.”

While everyone around Him were acting like animals,
Jesus was acting in love.

Solution is to connect to Jesus.

Is Jesus selfless?
Did God made you like Jesus?
Therefore, you got the DNA of selflessness in you.

Because Jesus is selfless, I am selfless.

Is Jesus humble?
Is Jesus kind?
Is Jesus sacrificial?
So are you.

Connect more to Jesus.

Speaker: Bro Audee Villaraza

How to connect to Jesus

4 Good Essential Spiritual Habits

If you have strong spiritual life, you know you will be ok.

1. Habit of prayer
– Prayer is the language of our souls
– We are spiritual beings
– Treat prayer like the oxygen that we need to breathe
– Start slow, you may start with 10 minutes
– You need to do it daily

2. Habit of meditating the word
– The word is like the bread of life
– It’s what nourishes us spiritually

3. Habit of serving the Church

4. Habit of sharing God’s love
– Be Jesus to somebody

Speaker: Bro Bo Sanchez

The change will come from Jesus, not from you.
Jesus makes it possible.
The Jesus that is in you will make it happen.
