Genesis 3:17-19

To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife
and ate fruit from the tree
about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”

Genesis 2:15

The Lord God took the man and put him
in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

Work is not a punishment, it is a privilege
to be the hands of God.

God will prosper the works of your hands.

2 Kinds of Work

1. Before the fall (Genesis 2)
– you are working with the owner of the garden

2. After the fall (Genesis 3)
– happened outside the Garden of Eden
– you are working separated from God

Big Message: I’m God’s co-worker.

It’s your choice what kind of work that you do.

If you work with God, you are building a miniature
of Garden of Eden.

God wants you to be a billboard of His Kingdom.

Sanctity and the need to work.

Psalms 128:2

You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Proverbs 12:11

Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.

Proverbs 14:23

All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 22:29

Do you see someone skilled in their work?
They will serve before kings;
they will not serve before officials of low rank.

Work skillfully

Colossians 3:24

since you know that you will
receive an inheritance
from the Lord as a reward.
It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Ephesians 4:28

Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer,
but must work, doing something useful with their own hands,
that they may have something to share with those in need.

Work is not just a means of living, but above
all, it is a means of loving.

Most of the time God gives you seeds, not fruits.
