KCon2017-Day 01-Plenary Talk - PM-001

Speaker: Arun Gogna

B.O.B.O.Bring Out the Best in Ourselves

The church is committed to bring out the best in us

4 Marks of the true church
– One
– Holy
– Catholic
– Apostolic

Apostolic – Church is founded on the apostles
Authority was passed on thru the pope thru the bishops

John 20:21
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.'”

Matthew 10:40
“He who receives you receives me, and he who
receives me receives him who sent me.”

Catholic means universal Church
It is for everyone

Matthew 28:18
“And Jesus came and said to them,
‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given
to me.'”

Holy – because we are united in Christ
Not because we are sinless
Charity – source of holiness = love
Faithfulness is the expression of holiness

One – because one body, one spirit

Ephesians 4:4-6
“There is one body and one Spirit,
just as you were called to the one hope
that belongs to your call,
one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of us all,
who is above all and through all and in all.”

One family
Church and state are one. We are the church and we are also the state.
We cannot be indifferent because we are one

Luke 9:51
“When the days drew near for him to be received up,
he set his face to go to Jerusalem”

Jesus is already set to go to Jerusalem to die.
Jesus is committed to us
He is committed to die

Speaker: Mike Vinas

Sirach 2:1-5
“My son, if you come forward to serve the Lord,
prepare yourself for temptation.
Set your heart right and be steadfast,
and do not be hasty in time of calamity.
Cleave to him and do not depart,
that you may be honored at the end of your life.
Accept whatever is brought upon you,
and in changes that humble you be patient.
For gold is tested in the fire,
and acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.”

John 16 33
“I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace
in this world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer,
I have overcome the world.”

Blessings comes, but along blessings comes battles.
But with Jesus, battles are won

Trials —–?—– Triumph
Trust
Between trials and triumph? We trust.

Sirach 2:6
“Trust in him, and he will help you; make your way straight,
and hope in him.”
